Day 3 & 4
Day 3 was a sea day on our way to Dubrovnik, Croatia. It was really relaxing to not have to worry about catching a train, making a plan, trying to sightsee as much as we could. We all just got up, went to the gym (finally!), and laid out near the pool underneath the glorious Mediterranean sun. Not a cloud in the sky, I was a happy camper. We spent most of the day out near the pool, learning about cricket from a very friendly elderly British couple sunbathing next to us.
Tillie and I went to the champagne toast on Formal night together, then we watched the sunset on the top deck. We had another fantastic dinner with Sampon and Marco. By this point, Marco was hooking us up with extra food, drinks, etc. The head waiter would give us secret appetizers that no one else would get. It was fabulous. Later that night, we met up with our new friends, and we headed to the dance floor. We had so much fun dancing and talking, ending the night with a dive into the pool on the back deck.
In the morning, we woke up in beautiful Dubrovnik, Croatia. The girls and I took a taxi to Old Town, and we walked the Old City Wall. It took us about 2 hours, drenched from the heat, and tired from so many stairs, but the views were absolutely breathtaking. Every corner I turned was another picturesque view that I’ve seen on Pinterest and pinned under my “Places to Go” board. I couldn’t believe I was actually there. After the walk around the city, we found a bar built into the city walls facing out into the ocean. There was a HUGE cliff by the edge, where all the boys had been jumping off earlier. We bought some local beer, and we were so ready to jump into the beautiful water, especially after it being so hot all day. Tills and I jumped off one of the higher ones and chilled in the water for a while. Eventually, Mallory and Tillie got the courage to jump off the highest cliff (I’d say about 50 ft up,) and they did it with ease. Kayla had been wrestling with the idea of jumping off, until a really attractive guy turned to her and said, “You only live once, honey.” And without any hesitation, she freefalled to her almost death. She landed directly on her face, and it looked so painful. She made it out alive, but with some very serious bruises. I felt terrible. Ya, it was a pretty big jump. Needless to say, I did not jump off.
We ended our time there with the boys and all walked back to the ship. We had yet another hysterically, obnoxiously loud dinner with Sampon and Marco. This time, the head waiter/guy in charge of the dining room brought us amazing fried calamari. Did we look like we needed more food? Whatever, we weren’t complaining. Bring it on! We went to the comedy show, and after that, we went up to skywalkers for another fun night. The next day, we would be in Corfu for a great day in the Mediterranean sun.
